A Jesus Community

What is a Jesus Community?

The word that the Bible uses for what we are calling “a Jesus Community” is church. We often refer to what we are doing as church, but in order to make sure that people don’t think we mean a building, a “worship service,” or an institution we are intentionally using fresh language. We do not mean to be coy. We only want to be crystal clear: church is about knowing Jesus deeply and taking on His character and way of life. This is what Eucharist is about.

More specifically… A Jesus community is a group of people who have covenanted with each other to live in learning relationship with Jesus.  Together we are learning from each other and through Jesus how to be the people that God intends us to be. How to  seek justice, offer forgiveness, be self-controlled, filled with joy, transparent with motives, celebrating beauty, speaking truthfully, living unselfishly, standing up for the oppressed, serving one another, protecting the earth, offering hospitality, seeking peace, relying on God, and more!

A Jesus community is a cohort of people in apprenticeship to the creator of life: Jesus.
